KL Rahul has rejoined the Delhi Capitals camp after taking a short break to celebrate a special moment in his life. KL Rahul missed Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24 as he welcomed his first child with his wife, Athiya Shetty.

Rahul returned to the Delhi Capitals at a crucial time after announcing the birth of his daughter on March 24, as they are gearing up for their IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, March 30, at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

KL Rahul returns to Delhi Capitals after welcoming first child

Delhi Capitals had signed Rahul during the IPL 2025 mega auction for a whopping INR 14 crore after he was released by Lucknow Super Giants, where he had been the captain for the first three seasons. Earlier, the Indian wicketkeeper joined the franchise in Visakhapatnam but only to return to his wife, as she was due to deliver.

Meanwhile, Rahul received a grand welcome from the DC franchise as they shared a heartwarming video on social media to welcome back their star cricketer to the camp. The heartwarming video featured iconic dialogues from Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster movie Om Shanti Om.

In the video, ecstatic Delhi fans can be seen welcoming Rahul to the side, as they handed a cap and a bat to the right-handed batter before proudly draping him in the team’s flag. The video, filled with energy and passion, perfectly captured the excitement of the Delhi fans to see Rahul in DC colors.

As the fans cheered on, Rahul kept it a simple but powerful message saying, “I’m home.”

It's both exciting and nerve-wracking: KL Rahul on joining Delhi Capitals

On joining DC in the IPL 2025, Rahul said, “This is a new experience for me, joining my fourth or fifth IPL franchise. It's both exciting and nerve-wracking. Every new team brings uncertainties about how the players will gel, how the management operates, and how the fans will react. But looking at our squad and how the management has built this team, we seem to have most areas covered.”

He further added, “There's a great mix of seasoned players and young talent. I am eager to play alongside some incredibly skilled youngsters and learn from them as well.
