South Africa has finally got their talismanic batter back; no, it's not the old AB de Villiers but a younger version of the veteran. Dewald Brevis, often tagged as 'Baby AB,' justifies his title by raining sixes at Cairns.
Ever since making his debut for CSK, the fortunes of South African youngster Dewald Brevis seem to have changed since then. After strong performances in the IPL, he has made his Test debut for South Africa and is now going through a blistering phase with the bat in T20Is.
The young 22-year-old batter from South Africa has been making headlines ever since his maiden T20I hundred, which he scored in the second T20I against Australia. His hundred that came off just 41 balls was the second-fastest hundred by a Proteas batter, and he became the highest scorer for South Africa in T20s.
Dewald Brevis smashes his opening six off Ben Dwarshius
After the massive hundred for South Africa in the first game, when Brevis launched an unstoppable attack on the Australian bowlers, he has now stepped up again for the Proteas after another top-order collapse.
The South African top order has underperformed in this series, but the new middle-order duo of Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs has worked wonders for them. This time around, when Brevis walked into the crease, he looked to have come settled from the dressing room.
He smashed Australian speedster Ben Dwarshius for a huge six over the square leg boundary as he pulled a shorter delivery in just the 6th over of the game. Though the team had lost three early wickets, Brevis showed no intent to step back.

Brevis takes down Aaron Hardie in the 10th over of the match
In the 10th over of the game, when Aaron Hardie, the fast-bowling all-rounder, was handed the ball by the Australian skipper, Brevis batted on 26 before he got to the striker's end on the third ball of the over.
Ever since he stepped in to bat, he made his intentions very clear, as he rocked back and smashed Hardie for 3 no-look sixes and quickly went from 26 to 44 and was just a hit away from another half-century to back his hundred.
He went on to hit his 4th six of the over, after Hardie missed his line and bowled a wide. Brevis with the fourth six reached his fifty in some style and made his statemental rise in International cricket for South Africa.

Brevis dismissed by Nathan Ellis after a destructive half-century
After the mass destruction caused by Dewald Brevis, his partner, Tristan Stubbs, was also looking to enter the groove, smashing some boundaries of the spinner, Adam Zampa. However, before Brevis could once again stage a big partnership with Stubbs, Marsh needed to get him out.
Marsh immediately turned to Ellis, the tricky bowler who dismissed Brevis with a slower ball, who smashed it straight back and was caught sharply by Glenn Maxwell. Later, Adam Zampa did the trick for Australia with the wicket of Stubbs.
