India's injury concerns deepened on Day 2 of the ongoing third Test against England at Lord’s as the substitute wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel walked off in pain after a sharp delivery struck his fingers, adding worries to the touring camp.
With Rishabh Pant sidelined due to a blow to his left index finger on Day 1, Dhruv Jurel had taken over the keeping duties, but misfortune struck again for the Indian cricket team.

Nitish Kumar Reddy bowled the final delivery before the lunch break on Day 2, and it swung sharply and beat the England player Brydon Carse’s edge at Lord’s.
The ball dipped awkwardly and bounced in front of Jurel, hitting his fingertips. The young wicketkeeper winced and immediately clutched his hand in discomfort.
The timing couldn’t have been worse for India, as Jurel’s injury has left the fans and the Indian team management worried, with no clear update yet on whether he’ll return to the field on Day 2.

Dhruv Jurel's return after lunch break uncertain
This isn’t the first time that Dhruv Jurel has stepped in as a backup wicketkeeper for India. The young wicketkeeper has been with the Test squad on the tour and was ready when called upon. On Day 1, Jurel impressed with neat glove work after Rishabh Pant was forced off the field due to a finger injury. However, it remains to be seen whether he would return after the lunch break.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant’s injury remains a big concern for India given his dual role as the wicketkeeper and vice-captain. There’s been no official update on whether it will affect his participation in the rest of the Lord’s Rest. The Indian camp will be hoping to have Pant as batter.

Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse fightback hurts India at Lord’s
Meanwhile, Day 2 at Lord’s started on a strong note for India as Jasprit Bumrah struck gold in a fiery spell. He first bowled Ben Stokes with a beauty for 44 and then removed Joe Root (104) and Chris Woakes (0) in the same over, putting India in full control.
Root had just brought up another century against India, but his stay didn’t last long, but the match took a surprising turn after the ball was changed, as things began to slip away from the touring side. The Indian players, especially captain Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj, weren’t happy with the new ball, and they showed frustration at the umpires.
Jamie Smith, who was dropped on just 5, made the most of his lifeline and went on to score another gritty half-century. Brydon Carse also made a valuable unbeaten 33 runs against India.
Brydon Carse and Smith stitched a solid 82-run partnership and slowly dragged England back into the game, taking away India's early advantage. Carse and Smith will resume the innings after the lunch break as England posted 353/7 against India.
