Dhruv Jurel Sacrifices Dasun Shanaka In Horrible Run Out During MI Vs RR Clash

The IPL 2026 clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) has witnessed a shocking moment in the middle as Dasun Shanaka threw away his wicket after a terrible mix-up with Dhruv Jurel at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, May 24.

Shanaka was looking dangerous with the bat. The Sri Lankan all-rounder was playing fearless cricket and attacking the Mumbai Indians' bowlers from the start. He had already smashed 29 runs from just 15 balls with the help of three sixes. But a misunderstanding between Jurel and Shanaka gave MI a big wicket.

The unfortunate incident unfolded on the third ball of the 11th over of Rajasthan Royals’ batting at the Wankhede Stadium. Dhruv Jurel gently pushed a Corbin Bosch delivery ball towards the point region and instantly called Dasun Shanaka for a single.

Shanaka trusted the call and sprinted hard towards the striker’s end as Jurel also started running. But after taking a few steps down the pitch, Jurel changed his plan midway and returned back towards his crease. Unfortunately, by then, Shanaka had already committed completely and was charging towards the other end without looking back.

Within seconds, both Rajasthan Royals batters ended up at the same side of the pitch. The confusion left Shanaka stranded helplessly in the middle, and the Mumbai Indians made the most of this horrible mix-up. The throw came towards Corbin Bosch near the stumps.

Interestingly, Bosch did not collect the ball cleanly at first and fumbled while trying to gather it. For a second, it looked like Shanaka might still survive because of that small mistake. But Bosch grabbed the ball again and broke the stumps before Shanaka could make it back into his crease.

The replay later showed that Shanaka was clearly short of his ground, and frustration was visible on Shanaka’s face as he was batting really well, and it was Jurel’s blunder that could prove costly for the RR as they are aiming to grab that final IPL 2026 playoff spot.

Corbin Bosch destroys Dhruv Jurel with unplayable yorker

A few overs later, Corbin Bosch cleaned bowled Dhurv Jurel with a perfect yorker. Jurel was looking in good touch and trying to anchor Rajasthan Royals’ innings. The right-hander had already scored 38 runs from 26 balls with the help of three boundaries and two sixes before Bosch stunned him.

The MI star sent a deadly inswinging yorker. The ball first angled in sharply towards Jurel, making the batter believe it was coming further into his pads. Expecting that movement, Jurel tried to flick the ball towards the leg side and closed the face of his bat while attempting the shot.

However, Bosch completely outsmarted the RR batter as the ball held its line after pitching and sneaked past Jurel’s bat, and before the RR batter could react, the delivery crashed straight into the base of the off-stump and shattered the stumps. Jurel looked disappointed as Rajasthan Royals lost their fifth wicket at a crucial stage of the game.
