Pandya has been doing a fine job as a bowler, but with the bat in hand, he has not been able to provide the desired finishing touches to the Indian team.

His poor form continued in the last Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2025 against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium as he fell for just 2 runs off 3 balls.

On the first ball of the 17th over, Dushmantha Chameera bowled a back-of-a-length delivery, and Hardik Pandya only managed to top-edge the delivery.

The ball went high up in the air between mid-wicket and mid-on, and Chameera kept his eyes on the ball, ran backwards at full speed, and dived forward to pull off an absolutely amazing catch.

Instantly after Hardik Pandya's dismissal, the former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took to X to praise the pacer Chameera for his stunning catch.

Pathan highlighted the poor catching record of the players at the Dubai International Stadium and labelled Chameera's catch as one of the best in the ongoing Asia Cup. He stated:

In another tweet, Irfan Pathan lavished rich praise on the explosive opening batsman Abhishek Sharma for his yet another exceptional knock in the Asia Cup 2025.

Irfan Pathan said that the best thing about Abhishek Sharma is that he always tries to play straight and doesn't try too many unorthodox things.

Notably, Abhishek Sharma slammed 61 runs off 31 balls, with 8 fours and 2 sixes against Sri Lanka to help India post a big score of 202/5 on the board. His performances in the ongoing tournament have helped him become the batter with the most runs in his bag in a single edition of the T20 Asia Cup.
