Rishabh Pant falls for 7 vs SRH

Batting first in the match, Lucknow Super Giants' opening duo of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram provided the team with an excellent start.

The openers batted with an aggressive intent from ball one and destroyed the SRH bowling unit. Markram and Marsh added 115 runs for the opening wicket before the latter got out in the 11th over.

After the fall of the first wicket, Pant walked out to bat at the No.3 spot, promoting himself in the batting order and taking the place of Nicholas Pooran.

Pant, however, was unable to justify the move and got out after scoring just 7 runs off 6 balls, with one four. He was dismissed on the last ball of the 12th over, which was bowled by Eshan Malinga.

Malinga bowled a pace off full-length delivery to Pant, who leaned forward and only managed to chip it back towards the left of the bowler.

Eshan Malinga leaped in his follow-through and held onto the ball with both hands, and despite falling down, he didn't drop the ball and completed an exceptional catch.

After getting out for yet another low score, Pant looked quite disappointed, and as he was going back to the hut, the reaction of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was caught on camera. Sanjiv Goenka was also seen walking inside in disappointment.

Rishabh Pant hasn't had form all season - Tom Moody

Speaking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the match, Tom Moody said that the Lucknow Super Giants need to perform collectively to get their campaign back on track.

Tom Moody also mentioned that Nicholas Pooran has lost his form, while the LSG skipper has not had form throughout the IPL 2025. He elaborated:

"Well, they need to collectively perform. At the end of the day, LSG started the season off with, really it was Nicholas Pooran, the one that was really leading the form with their batting. Since his form's gone, Rishabh Pant hasn't had form all season, Miller's also misfired down in that finishing role. It suddenly puts a huge amount of pressure on that bowling unit.

"Now, what they do need is their bowling unit to perform at their very best. They have to be at their best and their batting needs to improve significantly. If they can bring both those elements to the party, yes, they can compete against Sunrisers."
