When it comes to commitment towards their team, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players are always up to the task. Another such display of commitment came from Faf du Plessis, CSK’s veteran opener as they took on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 38 of IPL 2021. Having won the toss, KKR elected to bat first.

Shubman Gill and Varun Chakravarthy began the onslaught as they have done in the last couple of games but early wickets in the powerplay meant KKR did not soar up high as the game began. However, what followed was a sturdy batting contribution from the entire batting lineup as they finished on a high total of 171 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs.

While fielding in the first innings of the game between CSK and KKR, Faf du Plessis, sustained an injury on his left knee and his knee started bleeding. However, much like Shane Watson, the hero of the IPL 2018 final for CSK, Faf du Plessis decided to take to the crease and open for the Kings from the South.

There were pictures of du Plessis batting with a bleeding knee and this has also taken the internet by storm. Not only did Faf du Plessis bat, but he batted brilliantly as he stitched a brilliant opening along with Ruturaj Gaikwad for CSK and they cruised to 74 runs for the opening stand. Ruturaj returned to the pavilion having scored 40 runs off just 28 deliveries.
