Texas Super Kings skipper Faf du Plessis pulled off a stunning one-handed diving catch during their Major League Cricket 2025 encounter at the Oakland Coliseum. The 40-year-old showcased sharp reflexes and athleticism to get rid of MI New York batter Michael Bracewell, leaving fans and teammates in awe.
The Super Kings posted a total of 185/6 in California on Friday, June 13 (local time). In response, MI New York collapsed to 24/3 within the first six overs, including the dismissal of captain Nicholas Pooran. However, Monank Patel and Michael Bracewell steadied the innings with a fourth-wicket stand.

Faf du Plessis pulled off a remarkable catch to break a dangerous partnership between Michael Bracewell and Monank Patel. With the pair nearing a century stand, Bracewell attempted to attack fellow New Zealander Adam Milne with a lofted shot through the offside.
Du Plessis leaped into a full-stretch dive to his right and grabbed the ball inches from the ground with a single outstretched hand. The TSK captain showed incredible reflexes and control, safely grounding himself after the catch to complete the dismissal and shift momentum back in his team’s favor.

MI New York lost their fourth wicket at 121 in the 14th over while chasing a target of 186. Michael Bracewell was dismissed after scoring 38 runs off 21 balls, with the help of three boundaries and two sixes.
Faf du Plessis Scored 18 in the First Innings Against MI New York
Faf du Plessis resumed captaincy duties for the Texas Super Kings in the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season, following his campaign with the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025.
He opened the innings alongside Devon Conway and scored 18 runs off 15 deliveries before being dismissed by Ehsan Adil in the fifth over.
Michael Bracewell was the standout performer with the ball for MI New York in the first innings. The New Zealand all-rounder picked up 2 wickets for 34 runs, removing Daryl Mitchell and Milind Kumar.
Felt Like a Bit of a Steal - Faf du Plessis After Three-Run Win
Texas Super Kings pulled off a thrilling last-over victory in a nail-biting finish. The momentum kept shifting in the second half of the match, but the TSK players held their nerve when it mattered most.
With MI New York needing just nine runs in the final over, Daryl Mitchell successfully defended the target, sparking wild celebrations among the TSK supporters.
Faf admitted after the match that the win felt like a steal. Du Plessis noted that Daryl Mitchell held his nerve and delivered a vital final over.
"Felt like a bit of a steal, we were brilliant in the first ten overs, then they played some good cricket, then we got a few run-outs and that changed the game. (On Mitchell) He had a tough start but came back and bowled really well in the crucial last over. The guys did really well, Adam was exceptional, he is a great asset to the team," Faf du Plessis said after the match.
