The 26-year-old New Zealand National Cricket Team top-order batsman Finn Allen unleashed a carnage in the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 opener on Friday, June 13.

Opening the innings with his fellow Kiwi Tim Seifert, Finn Allen went ballistic and displayed one of the most dominant performances with the bat in the history of T20 cricket.

In the opening match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, San Francisco Unicorns locked horns with the Washington Freedom at the Oakland Coliseum in Oakland.

Washington Freedom won the toss and invited the San Francisco Unicorns to bat first in the match. The Kiwi top-order batsman Finn Allen decided to make the most of the opportunity to bat first on a fresh wicket, and he played an attacking brand of cricket from the very start.

Allen launched an attack on the Washington Freedom bowlers and raced to his fifty in just 20 balls. He looked unstoppable in the middle and accelerated further to complete a historic century in just 34 balls.

Finn Allen was not done yet, and he was looking to register a daddy hundred. He kept smashing the bowlers all over the park and achieved the next milestone of 150 runs in just 49 balls.

His innings was eventually brought to an end by Mitchell Owen on the first ball of the 18th over. Owen bowled a shortish length ball to Allen, who hit the ball straight into the hands of Glenn Phillips at long-on.

He finished his innings with 151 runs under his belt off 51 balls, including 5 fours and 19 sixes. The New Zealand batter played with a strike rate of 296.07 and raised his bat to soak in the applause as he walked back to the hut. Allen's innings helped San Francisco Unicorns register a colossal total of 269/5, which was the biggest ever on USA soil.

Speaking of his innings during the mid-innings break, Finn Allen said that he was thrilled to smash the fastest ton in Major League Cricket history. He elaborated:

"Was exciting (on making the fastest hundred in MLC history), off to a good start, found the boundaries regularly, we had a few partnerships, and got a good score on the board. The boundaries are fairly decent, we'll have to bowl the right line and lengths, field well and we can defend this score."

With his insane batting performance, the New Zealand batter broke Chris Gayle's record for most sixes in a T20 innings with his 19 maximums, and his 173.27 strike rate for 4000+ T20 runs is the best among all batters who have aggregated 1000 or more runs. He also became the player with the fastest 150 in his name in T20 cricket, and his 34-ball ton is the fastest ever by a New Zealand batter.
