Matthew Breetzke made his much-awaited IPL debut on Tuesday (May 27) when Lucknow Super Giants locked horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
With Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh forming a formidable opening partnership for the Lucknow-based outfit, Matthew Breetzke did not get the chance in the LSG playing eleven for the first 13 games of the season. However, he was finally named in the playing eleven for LSG's last game of the season.

The right-handed batsman replaced his compatriot Aiden Markram in the LSG playing eleven. With Markram doing well throughout the season, Matthew Breetzke had his task cut out as the onus was on him to give his team a good start with the bat.
The Proteas star started on a positive note. He hit a fine four in the very first over of the match. In the second over, Breetzke hit Krunal Pandya for a six over long-on to make his intentions clear. He was looking in good touch but could not convert his start into a big score on his debut.
His stay at the crease came to an end in the third over when he was clean bowled by Nuwan Thushara. The Sri Lankan pacer went for a yorker but could only bowl a low full-toss. However, the away swing at the last moment outfoxed Breetzke as the ball evaded his bat and went on to crash into the stumps.
Breetzke was not at all impressed over being dismissed on a full-toss and did not shy away from venting his frustration. Disappointed with the dismissal, he let out his anger with a sharp kick into the air.

Talking about the game, LSG were on 72/1 in the 8th over at the time of writing this report. Mitchell Marsh and captain Rishabh Pant were batting in the middle for the home side. LSG will be looking to win the ongoing game to end their campaign on a winning note.
