Mohammed Siraj is making sure to make up on Day 5 for his costly mistake, but KL Rahul made a blunder, and Gautam Gambhir's India lost the opportunity to get a very crucial wicket that they really needed to save the ongoing fifth and final Test against England at The Oval.
After removing Jamie Smith, Mohammed Siraj came agonizingly close to breaking through yet again. Bowling with fire and precision, India’s fiery paceman delivered a sharp delivery to England fast bowler Gus Atkinson that had the Oval crowd holding their breath on Day 5.

The ball was on a good length and moved slightly away, taking the outer edge of Atkinson’s bat and flying low towards second slip, and KL Rahul was perfectly stationed to take it. However, Rahul dove to his right, but the ball just fell short of his outstretched hands, landing inches in front.

Siraj looked disappointed, as the bowler had his head in his hands, knowing how close he was to getting a wicket. After witnessing Rahul’s error, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir could not hide his frustration in the dressing room as England was barely 20 runs away from the victory.
In the video, Gautam Gambhir was seen grinding his teeth as Gus Atkinson escaped from a perfect trap by Siraj, and that too in a very crucial moment of the match at The Oval. Gautam Gambhir was looking just as helpless, as this wicket would have put extra pressure on England.

IND vs ENG 5th Test Match Highlight
Meanwhile, bowlers from both teams had the upper hand from Day 1 on a green and bouncy pitch at The Oval in the final test. Karun Nair’s fighting fifty, along with handy knocks from Sai Sudharsan (38) and Washington Sundar (26), helped India reach 224 in the first innings.
Gus Atkinson made a strong comeback, taking five wickets for England. Then, the hosts got a flying start, racing to 92 in just 13 overs. But Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna delivered their best, taking eight wickets together to bundle out England for 247 in their first innings.
In the second innings, the pitch eased up. Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his second hundred of the England tour, and Sundar’s quickfire fifty helped India set a target of 374. Chasing the challenging target, England came out swinging. Firstly, Ben Duckett (54) set the tone, Joe Root (105) kept it steady, and Harry Brook exploded with a brilliant 111 off 98 balls, leaving India under serious pressure.
But on the final day, Siraj yet again shone bright and finished the match for India. He finished with a five-wicket haul as India won the fifth and final Test by six runs to level the five-match Test series 2-2 against England. However, if Siraj had survived at Lord’s, India could have scripted the history on English soil, where they have not won a Test series since 2007.
