Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh took a brilliant catch to dismiss the well-set batter Ravindra Jadeja on Day 4 of the third Test against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir was visibly upset with Ravindra Jadeja's dismissal in the first innings at the Gabba.
Team India resumed their fourth day's play at 51/4 with Rahul (33) and Rohit Sharma (0). However, the visiting team lost Rohit Sharma, who scored 10 runs, in the morning session. India Can Drop a Batsman, but Not Jadeja – Mohammad Kaif
Ravindra Jadeja’s absence in the first two Tests raised eyebrows due to his strong Test record in Australia. Former Indian cricketers Mohammad Kaif and Irfan Pathan heaped praise on Jadeja following his half-century in the first innings.
Mohammad Kaif said that India cannot afford to drop Jadeja, adding that he looked more comfortable than the top-order batters. Kaif also stated that India has failed to field their best XI so far. Irfan Pathan stated that Jadeja is a valuable Test batsman.
"India can think of dropping a batsman but not Jadeja. Unlike the top order, he didn't play and miss. He looked the most comfortable Indian batsman here. India on this tour have failed to put their best playing XI on field. Hope it changes in the last two Tests. #AUSvIND," Mohammad Kaif wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
"Ravindra Jadeja as a test batsman is valuable @imjadeja," Irfan Pathan stated.
