Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) qualified for the final of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) by crushing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eighth wickets in a thrilling Qualifier 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, May 21.

KKR dominated the game from the first ball, as the Men in Purple and Gold successfully chased down a target of 160 runs with over six overs to spare after restricting the SRH to a modest 159 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

This thrilling win has set the grand stage for KKR, as Shreyas Iyer and his army will battle out on Sunday, May 26, for the IPL title in the summit clash in Chennai.

The two-time IPL champions Kolkata will face either SRH again or the winner of the eliminator between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2024 Final, which will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 26.

Gautam Gambhir’s motivational leadership propels KKR to IPL 2024 Final

Amidst the celebrations, an inspiring speech from KKR's mentor, Gautam Gambhir, has gone viral on social media, as they have followed his path and are now just one inch away from winning the trophy.

Before the tournament began, Gambhir had urged the KKR team to stay focused on their ultimate goal of winning the IPL 2024, as they have not won the trophy since 2014.

In his speech, the former KKR skipper emphasized unity and determination and insisted that every team member, regardless of their seniority or background, should work towards the one mission of lifting the trophy.

Gambhir had told his team that he wanted to see them in the final. Gambhir's motivational words did wonders for the Men in Purple, as their journey to the final began long before the first match, and they are now on the brink of IPL glory.

In the viral video, Gautam Gambhir can be heard saying: “Everyone in this group will be treated equally. There is no senior-junior, there is no domestic-international because we have got one mission that is to win this IPL. So, everyone needs to follow that one simple path. On 26th May, we should be there, giving everything positive and it starts from today. It's not gonna start on the 26th (May) or 23rd (March), it's starts today.”

Notably, the media reports claimed that the BCCI is looking to appoint Gambhir as India’s new head coach after Rahul Dravid’s tenure ends with the conclusion of the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024.
