Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya failed to finish off the match for his team against Lucknow Super Giants despite finishing unbeaten in the run chase. It was not a perfect game for Hardik, although he did brilliantly with both bat and ball.
The allrounder came in to bat when Mumbai had just lost Suryakumar Yadav for a well-made 67. With 52 more needed off the last 23 balls, Hardik Pandya would have backed himself to finish off the game for his team.
However, he lost his timing in the last couple of overs and just couldn't score the required boundaries. Hardik was visibly frustrated by his inability to time the ball properly and even threw his bat in the last over. In the end, Mumbai fell short by 12 runs.

After the match had completed, Hardik Pandya was clearly disgusted with himself for not being able to finish off the match for his team. After the customary handshakes after the match, he went into a corner of the ground where he was seen in an emotional state.
The MI captain just couldn't control his emotions after losing such a close match where they were ahead for most parts of the run-chase. However, it wasn't their day as a lack of boundaries in the final two overs of the match cost them.
Excellent match for Hardik Pandya
While he got emotional after failing to win the match for his team, Hardik had an outstanding game with both bat and ball. In the first innings of the match, Pandya led by example after LSG were going strong.
He picked up the huge wicket of Nicholas Pooran first up to give his team a vital breakthrough. In his next over, he removed the LSG captain Rishabh Pant for another low score.
Hardik didn't stop here and returned at the death overs to pick up three more wickets to restrict LSG to 203-8 in 20 overs. The allrounder finished with 5-36 in four overs, his best figures in T20 cricket.
The MI captain showed his batting credentials with a fiery cameo down the order. He struck 28 off 16 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. However, he lost his timing in the final couple of overs as Mumbai fell short by 12 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav shines again
Apart from Hardik, Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav also made vital contributions with the bat for the Mumbai Indians. Both the batters added 69 for the third wicket and were going extremely strong at that point.
However, Dhir fell for a well-made 46 off just 24 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. He was bowled by LSG's spin bowling sensation Digvesh Rathi, who also emerged as the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling spell of 1-21 in four overs.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar top-scored for MI with 67 off 43 balls. He struck 9 fours and 1 six during a knock filled with audacious strokeplay.
