Hardik Pandya, on Friday (January 31), once again showed why he is an indispensable part of the Indian team as he rescued the side with a whirlwind fifty in the ongoing fourth T20I against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
Team India were staring down the barrel after being asked to bat first for the first time in the five-match series. While Abhishek Sharma gave the team a promising start by hitting Jofra Archer for a six and four in the very first over, India soon found themselves on the back foot.
In the second over, Saqib Mahmood put England in the driver's seat by taking as many as three wickets without conceding a run. He dismissed Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma on his first two deliveries before dismissing Suryakumar Yadav to reduce India to 12 for 3.

Sharma and Rinku Singh then steadied the ship but could not take the team to a strong position. They added 45 runs for the fourth wicket before Adil Rashid dismissed Sharma for 29 runs in the 8th over. 22 runs later, Rinku returned to the dressing room as well after scoring 30 off 26.
Hardik Pandya hits stunning six:
Rinku's departure saw India getting reduced to 79 for 5. India desperately needed Hardik Pandya to deliver and the former vice-captain of the team did not disappoint. He went on to smash a quickfire fifty to guide the team to a good position. He scored 53 runs off just 30 balls before being dismissed in the 18th over.
Hardik Pandya's brilliant knock was studded with four fours and as many sixes. And the best six of the lot was definitely the one that he hit to complete his fifty. It was a no-look six from the star allrounder that left captain Suryakumar Yadav impressed as well.
On the first ball of the 18th over, Hardik Pandya hit the six against Jamie Overton to complete his fifty off just 27 deliveries. It was a full delivery from the England allrounder and Pandya just lofted it down the ground and did not even bother to see where the ball was going.
As soon as he hit the shot, the cameras turned towards the Indian dressing room where Suryakumar looked mighty impressed with his teammate's audacious shot.

He was run out on the very last ball of the game. Thanks to the fifties from Pandya and Dube, India recovered from 79 for 5 and posted 181/9.
