I would like to give this (medal) to Daya from my side - Hardik Pandya
After being named the impact player, Hardik Pandya stated that the team was tested in the match. He added that the squad stepped up collectively and fulfilled their roles. Pandya urged his teammates to treat the upcoming game against Pakistan as “just another match.”
“I think we had a very good game today as a group. We were tested. It was hot. But at the same point of time everyone came and played their role. On 21st, it’s just another game. Let’s play the game when it’s played, not before it. Good luck, guys,” Pandya said.
The all-rounder then dedicated his medal to Dayanand Garani. Pandya stated that they put behind-the-scenes efforts into keeping the players sharp with fielding drills. Pandya then placed the medal around Garani’s neck, saying he wanted him to keep it.
“I would like to give this (medal) to Daya from my side. Daya, you can keep this from me. This is for the effort you guys put in while giving us fielding drills," he added.
Hardik Pandya Dismissed For Just One Run Against Oman
Hardik Pandya produced a disciplined bowling performance in the match. He completed his full quota of four overs with tidy figures of 1 for 26. The right-arm fast bowler bowled the 19th over, where he conceded just six runs while dismissing a well-set Hammad Mirza, who had scored 51 runs off 33 balls.
Pandya was dismissed for just one run after being run out in a freak incident. Sanju Samson played a straight drive, but the ball was deflected by bowler Jiten Ramanandi onto the stumps. Pandya was short of his crease at the non-striker’s end.
India will kick off their Super 4s campaign in the Asia Cup against Pakistan before taking on Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The top two teams from the round advance to the final.
