Watch: Harpreet Brar fires a big warning at Rajasthan Royals for trolling Preity Zinta and Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar has now embroiled himself in controversy after responding to a controversial post from the Rajasthan Royals.

After RR's win against Punjab on April 28, the inaugural champions quoted Bollywood actor Salman Khan's viral 2014 tweet. In 2014, Khan had tweeted "Zinta's team won kya?" asking whether Punjab Kings - who are co-owned by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta - had won their match.

RR had quoted the above tweet with a video of Donovan Ferreira sitting next to his Player of the Match trophy from the game and saying "Sorry Bhai, aaj nahi" (Sorry Bhai, not today). Khan is affectionately known as 'Bhai'.

RR's win over PBKS had snapped the latter's unbeaten streak and delivered their first loss of the season.

"The coin can flip at any time" - Harpreet Brar

In a now viral video, Punjab Kings' Harpreet Brar was seen talking about RR's actions following their win over PBKS.

"They [RR] have uploaded a lot of reels about us and Punjab. I just want to say one thing, the coin can flip at any time. And our reels go viral even if we lose. The day we [PBKS] defeat you [RR}, I will show you. We are not hurt after losing the match, but we are very hurt by the reel."

"The Dal Bhati Churma [local Rajasthani dish] will burn that day. You said 'aaj nahi bhai', if not today, it will happen some day, you guys just be ready for it. That poor guy [Ferriera] probably doesn't even know what he was saying," Brar said.

Harpreet Brar in IPL 2026

Brar has been a part of Punjab Kings since 2019, but has played only sporadically. Across 8 seasons, Brar has played all 50 of his IPL matches for Punjab Kings. So far, he has taken 35 wickets at an economy rate of just under 8.

In 2025, Harpreet Brar had his most successful IPL season in terms of wickets, but he has played only one match in 2026. He was brought in as the Impact Player against Rajasthan Royals and delivered four wicketless overs for just 25 runs as RR chased down 223 in Mullanpur.

Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals' next match

RR will face the Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on May 1 in their next match. Rajasthan are currently in fourth place on the points table with 12 points courtesy of six wins in nine matches.

Punjab Kings have 13 points with six wins and one no result in their 8 matches. Having experienced their first loss of the season the other day, PBKS will face GT in Ahmedabad on May 3.

Although Harpreet Brar talked about Punjab's "revenge" over RR, the two sides are not scheduled to meet in the league stage of this year's tournament again. But current trends suggest that the two could meet in the playoffs stage instead.
