England white-ball skipper Harry Brook audaciously scoops English bowling consultant Tim Southee for a six on the first ball after he arrived at the crease in The Hundred.
The Hundred is a new format introduced by the ECB, which, despite not having any international recognition, has become a fan favourite tournament in recent times. The intense thrill and excitement in the games, achieved within just 200 balls across both innings, make it a must-watch entertainer.
Recently, another such incident unfolded as English batter Harry Brook launched coaching consultant Tim Southee for a six, playing an infamous scoop of the very first ball he faced. The shot took all fans, as well as the bowling side, by surprise.

Arriving during the 74th ball of the match, the Northern Superchargers gave the finishing touch to their already explosive innings. When the England white-ball skipper came in, Tim Southee bowled a slightly shorter, slower delivery on the stumps.
Harry Brook crouched and prepared for a switch hit, but at the last moment, he changed his mind, seeing probably the ball was probably too short for a reverse hit, and hence, he scooped the ball perfectly over the wicket-keeper's head for a six.
What made Harry Brook's shot look even more impressive and jaw-dropping was the sheer timing and tactical brilliance used in the shot. Despite losing his balance and tumbling to fall down, Brook managed to send the ball sailing over the ropes.

Northern Superchargers record the highest innings total
The 14th match of The Hundred 2025 marked Birmingham Phoenix taking over the Northern Superchargers. The Superchargers batted first to put on this year's highest total of 193/5 in their 100 balls.
Zak Crawley, the English opener, gave the Superchargers a flying start as he smashed Trent Boult for 22 runs off the last set of the powerplay. After being dismissed by skipper Livingstone, Crawley's void was filled by Dawid Malan's 58 runs.
Chris Wood was just setting things right for Phoenix; however, Harry Brook's cameo of 31 runs off just 14 balls changed the fate of the game. The lightning Headingley outfield and a healthy batting track led to a flurry of runs across both innings.
However, the Superchargers' bowlers looked in better control as they kept constant pressure with wickets at regular intervals before a match-defining partnership turned up between skipper Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell.
Just then, Adil Rashid, the man of the match performer, who was only economical until then, also handed Supershargers the valuable breakthroughs of both Livingstone and Bethell.
Matthew Potts also picked 3 wickets, and Jacob Duffy and Tom Lawes picked 2 wickets each to restrict Phoenix to 157 and thus won the game by a huge 36-run margin.
Tim Southee's role as England consultant to continue
In 2025, just before the Zimbabwe Test tour, England appointed retired New Zealand international cricketer Tim Southee as their bowling consultant, especially as a specialist to enhance England's pace bowling skills.
Brendon McCullum, who has captained Southee for years in the Blackcaps camp, is well aware of his abilities and his insane record in international cricket, being the highest wicket-taker from New Zealand across all formats.
Though Southee's appointment has been reported for a short-term notice, he was seen working alongside McCullum in both the Zimbabwe series and the recently concluded series against India. This move seems to continue at least till the Ashes, as the Kiwi man is well aware of Aussie conditions, and his vast experience will only add quality to the young English pace attack.
