Bangladesh-A batter Soumya Sarkar and India-A’s Harshit Rana were involved in a heated exchange during the second semi-final of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. India A defeated the Bangladesh A team by 51 runs on Friday, July 21, in Colombo to enter the final of the tournament.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first in the knockout game. The Men in Blue, who remained unbeaten in the group stage, faced difficulty while batting on a slow and low pitch. They lost seven wickets for just 137 runs against a disciplined Bangladeshi spin attack in challenging conditions.
Yash Dhull Smashed Half Century
Despite the early wickets, skipper Yash Dhull scored a fighting half-century to help the team reach a respectable total. Yash formed crucial partnerships with Manav Suthar and Rajvardhan Hangargekar as India A reached 211 runs. The Indian skipper scored 66 runs off 85 balls, with the help of six boundaries.
In response, Bangladesh got off to a good start as openers Mohammad Naim (38) and Tanzid Hasan (51) added a 71-run opening partnership. The Indian spinners picked up wickets, reducing the opposition to 160 runs. Nishant Sindhu picked up five wickets, while Manav Suthar took three wickets.

The incident took place in the 26th over of Bangladesh’s innings. Soumya Sarkar poked the ball to slip off Yuvrajsinh Dodiya’s bowling, and Nikin Jose took a brilliant catch. Sarkar wasn’t pleased with Harshit Rana’s aggressive celebration and exchanged a few words with him.

Yash Dhull was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant batting performance. He was impressed with his captaincy while defending the low target, as he made good use of his bowling resources and set up an attacking fielding setup.
On the other hand, Pakistan beat the hosts Sri Lanka by 60 runs in the first semi-final. India will face Pakistan Shaheens in the final of the tournament, which is scheduled to be played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, July 23.
