Tilak's partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube led India to a comfortable victory
Tilak Varma might have scored the majority of the runs in India's innings, but what contributed immensely to India's victory was his partnership with wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson and all-rounder Shivam Dube.
Sanju came in to bat at no. 5 for India, after India had lost 3 early wickets in the powerplay. Tilak, alongside Samson, piled on to a 57-run partnership, while the most crucial partnership that won it for India marked the 5th wicket partnership between Dube and Tilak.
In a 60-run partnership, Tilak slammed a stunning half-century, while Shivam Dube scored a quickfire 33 off just 22 balls, with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Dube's innings handed India the momentum, which was much needed in the death overs.
Can Tilak Varma go past Phil Salt in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings?
Tilak has played two of the most spectacular innings in the last week of the Asia Cup, first against Sri Lanka and then against Pakistan in the finals. On the back of his stunning innings, can Tilak advance to the second position of the ICC Men's T20I rankings?
He has already gone past Jos Buttler to take the third position, while Tilak is around 54 points away from going past Salt in the list. Abhishek Sharma is currently irreplaceable at the top of the ICC Rankings.
Once at the top, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav is now in the 6th position on the list.
