A sudden whim of fate for the Outer Delhi Warriors (ODW). They needed only 1 run in the final over of the 8th match of the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2026 (DPL 2026) against the New Delhi Tigers (NDT) to win the match. It ended in a draw followed by a ‘Super Over’ to conclude the sheer rivalry tonight at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
In the penultimate delivery of the second innings, when Shivam Sharma and Pratham Saluja were running down the ground to steal a run to seal the match, New Delhi Tigers fielder Himmat Singh went to pick up the ball quickly to break the stumps.
What happened in the New Delhi Tigers vs Outer Delhi Warriors DPL 2026 match?
Cricket is full of expected events; the recent match between ODW and NDT in DPL 2026 proved it again. Himmat Singh, who was near the non-striker’s end stumps, tried to pick the ball from the ground quickly, but the ball slipped from his hand and fell on the ground, causing another twist in the tale.
Out of frustration, Himmat Singh kicked his right foot into the air, not realizing where the ball actually dropped. The ball dropped from his hand right behind his right foot. Himmat Singh threw the ball in the air and kicked the ball as well. After making contact with the toe of the boot, the ball travelled directly onto the wicket and dismantled the bails.
The batter fell short of completing the ground, and the match ended in a draw in the stipulated 15-over innings. The 20-over match was cut short because of the rain. The rain came to spoil the party, but the series of unpredictable events turned the match into a highly thrilling and entertaining contest.

Pratham Saluja was dismissed for a run-out, caused by Himmat Singh. The match was levelled as the Outer Delhi Warriors were restricted to 155, while they needed to score 156 to claim the match.
Himmat Singh could be the hero of the match
The match wrapped up through a Super Over. The Super Over was one-sided as Outer Delhi Warriors simply outplayed the Tigers in both batting and bowling.
Batting first in the Super Over, ODW registered 20 runs. Rishabh Sharma smashed three 6s off Monu Shukla and took a double to conclude the over. New Delhi Tigers managed to get only 6 runs against a couple of wickets. However, they started the over nicely with a maximum from Himmat Singh’s blade.
Shivam Sharma took two back-to-back wickets to end the contest
The Delhi-born, who played for the Lucknow Super Giants in the previous season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), could have left the ground as the star of the match, but Shivam Sharma made a brilliant comeback after conceding six on the very first ball.
In two back-to-back deliveries, Shivam clinched Himmat and then Hrithik Shokeen to wrap up the business for tonight. Outer Delhi Warriors won the match through the Super Over.
