It's Diwali, a festive day all over India, but the India Under-19 team decided to keep their distance from the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team. Like the senior India National Cricket Team, the U-19 team also chose not to shake hands at the toss of the Under-19 Asia Cup match today (November 8).
India U-19 captain Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani and Pakistan's U-19 national team captain Farhan Yousaf came for the toss in the middle of the ground in Oman, but did not conduct the customary handshake to maintain the rivalry at its peak.
No handshake in India vs Pakistan U-19 Asia Cup match
India U-19 won the toss and elected to bat first. Skipper Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani will open the innings with former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag's son, Aaryavir Sehwag. Another former Team India batter, Rahul Dravid's son, Anvay Dravid, is also in the line-up. Anvay is the keeper-batter of this team.
In the 2025 edition of this tournament, it was Pakistan who had the last laugh against their arch rival India. A bowling attack, led by Ali Raza, was right on the money against the India U-19 team in that match. India suffered a 191-run defeat in the final of the 2025 Asia Cup in Dubai. The defeat remains a fresh cut on the flesh for the team in Blue. Today, they will try to show their best to take sweet revenge.
The match is expected to be spiced up further as Ali Raza will be there with the ball in hand. The India vs Pakistan U-19 match is already in the headlines because of the no-handshake incident at the toss.

Ali Raza bowled out Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani.
Pakistan Under-19 got a solid start again, against their arch rivals through their pacer Ali Raza. On the second ball of the very first over of the innings, the fast bowler clean bowled the Indian skipper and opener Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani. The right-handed batter misjudged the delivery and lost his stumps.
The batter tried to leave the ball; Raza pitched it on the fuller length, slightly outside of the off stump. Instead of going away from the batter, the ball nipped into Raichandani and took the bails off. India Under-19 lost their first wicket without adding their first run on the board. Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani departed for a 2-ball duck, India 0 for 1.
