Star India opener Shubman Gill was seen asking his teammate to hurry up during the practice session ahead of the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

While it is not clear which teammate was Gill talking to, Arshdeep Singh was later seen walking towards the pavilion alongside Gill. Both Gill and Arshdeep are known to be good friends from their days in Under-19 cricket.

Both players were part of India's Under-19 World Cup squad that won the title in 2018. Both Shubman Gill and Arshdeep Singh also played domestic cricket for Punjab together and are now part of India's limited-overs squads.

Shubman Gill asks his teammate to come quickly

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Shubman Gill is standing in the pavilion and asking someone to hurry up and come back quickly. He is also seen waving his hand to hurry up.

After some time, Gill went down the stairs and then saw Arshdeep Singh walking past him into the pavilion. Both Arshdeep and Gill walked back into the pavilion together.

Shubman Gill's struggles in the ODI series against Sri Lanka

Shubman Gill is not in great form in this series. The 24-year-old has struggled to get going on slow and turning wickets at Colombo. He has struggled for timing against the turning ball and that has resulted in him playing a bad shot.

One positive thing about Gill is that he has got good starts in both games so far but has been unable to convert them into big ones. He has got out while trying to force the boundaries which doesn't seem to be the right way to play on these tracks.

Is Shubman Gill's form a concern for India?

In the first ODI, Gill scored 16 off 35 balls. He struggled to time the ball. His wicket led to a batting collapse for India after a great opening stand between him and Rohit Sharma.

In the second ODI, Gill started better and showed the intent to score runs. The 24-year-old scored 35 off 44 balls with 3 fours to his name. His wicket proved to be the turning point here as well. This time, he was a little unfortunate to be dismissed as Kamindu Mendis took a sensational one-handed catch at first slip off the bowling of legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay.

Shubman Gill has scored just 51 runs in two matches so far. His struggles against spin bowling is a big concern for India given he is considered as the future of Indian batting. During the squad announcement for this tour, Gill was also appointed India's vice-captain for both T20Is and ODIs.
