The incident took place on the last ball of the 36th over of Australia's innings. Jasprit Bumrah bowled on a good length in the channel, and it jagged back after pitching. Alex Carey looked to punch it through the covers but got beaten on the inside edge. The ball went through the bat-pad gap to hit the off-stump.

Jasprit Bumrah Claims Three Wickets in Post-Lunch Session
Australia was 53/2 at lunch, leading by 158 runs, with Marnus Labuschagne (20) and Steve Smith (2) not out. Mohammed Siraj produced a breakthrough in the second session by dismissing Smith, who scored 13 runs. Smith's dismissal triggered a collapse as Australia lost Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh quickly.
Australia lost 4 wickets for just 11 runs in 22 balls on Sunday afternoon. Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer, taking three wickets in the post-lunch session. Australia was 94/6 in the 37th over, leading by 199 runs, with Marnus Labuschagne (46*) and captain Pat Cummins (0*) unbeaten at the crease.
Bumrah removed Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Alex Carey in just 11 deliveries. Head was caught at mid-wicket for 1, and Marsh was dismissed for a duck after gloving a delivery to the keeper. The Indian pacer reached the 200-wicket milestone during the second innings, achieving it in just 44 Test matches.
India will be hoping to bowl out Australia for a manageable target. The series is currently tied at 1-1, and a victory in the ongoing match will boost India’s chances of reaching the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final.
India Bowled Out for 369, Adding 11 Runs to Overnight Total
Earlier, India was dismissed for 369, adding 11 runs to their overnight score, which gave Australia a 105-run lead in the first innings. Nitish Reddy Kumar, who scored 114, was caught at long-off off Nathan Lyon’s bowling, with Mohammed Siraj remaining not out on 4.
However, controversy arose when Siraj appeared to edge a Pat Cummins yorker to Steve Smith at second slip. The third umpire, after reviewing the replays, overturned the on-field decision, calling it a bump ball. This decision left the Australian players confused and frustrated.
