Jasprit Bumrah was involved in an exchange with a ground official just before the start of the third Test between India and England at Lord’s on Thursday, July 10. The Indian pacer inspected the pitch before he was told to stay away from the Lord's surface, and the incident grabbed the attention of cricket fans.
Jasprit Bumrah returned to India’s playing XI for the third Test after being rested for the Edgbaston match as part of workload management. He replaced Prasidh Krishna in the lineup. The pacer joined Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep, who picked up 17 wickets between them during India's win.

Just before the start of the third Test at Lord’s, Jasprit Bumrah walked past the boundary ropes around the pitch to take a closer look. While England captain Ben Stokes maintained his distance, the Indian pacer stepped a bit too close.
A ground official promptly warned him not to step onto the protected surface. In response, Bumrah playfully pretended to place a foot on the pitch. After being reminded again, the Indian pacer took two steps back and walked away.

England Captain Ben Stokes Wins Toss and Elects to Bat
The 31-year-old played the series opener at Leeds, where he impressed with a five-wicket haul in the first innings but went wicketless in the second as England successfully chased a target of 371.
India bounced back with a 336-run victory at Edgbaston to level the five-match series. With the series evenly poised at 1-1, Bumrah returned to the playing XI for the third Test. He replaced Prasidh Krishna, who had underwhelming performances in the first two matches.
Bumrah currently holds the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings. Kuldeep Yadav was again ignored by the team management, as Washington Sundar retained his place.
What Happened When Jasprit Bumrah Last Played a Test Match at Lord’s?
Jasprit Bumrah has played only one Test match at Lord’s in his career. The match took place during the 2021 tour of England, with the series level after a drawn first Test. India were aiming to replicate their 2014 success at the iconic venue.
England took a 27-run lead after the first innings. However, India bounced back strongly in their second innings, declaring at 298/8 and setting a target of 272 for the hosts in approximately 60 overs.
While Bumrah went wicketless in the first innings, he delivered a match-defining spell on the final day, claiming three crucial wickets, including that of England captain Joe Root. He finished with impressive figures of 3 for 33 from 15 overs, playing a key role in India’s memorable 151-run win.
Overall, Bumrah has enjoyed success in Test matches in England. He has taken 42 wickets in 10 Tests at an average of 26.47, including three five-wicket hauls.
