In a nail-biting IPL 2025 Eliminator, Mumbai Indians (MI) got the better of Gujarat Titans (GT) by 20 runs to qualify for Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Amid the high-voltage affair, tensions flared between Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul Tewatia in Ahmedabad.
In a fiery face-off that no one saw coming, Jasprit Bumrah had a small fiery moment with Rahul Tewatia that set social media ablaze. As the tension reached a boiling point in the 18th over of Gujarat Titans’ chase, Rahul Tewatia, who was their last hope, decided to go after MI’s trump card, Jasprit Bumrah.

The left-handed batter smashed a massive six over deep mid-wicket, leaving the Mumbai Indians dugout in silence. But Jasprit Bumrah was not ready to let the momentum slip away. On the very next delivery, Bumrah brought out his trademark slower ball that completely outfoxed Tewatia.

Tewatia swung wildly but missed completely. Then, the GT all-rounder became even more desperate, playing another wild shot only to mistime it and manage only a leg bye. As he ran for a single, the GT player’s frustration boiled over. He muttered something, unaware that the stump mic had caught it all, and more importantly, it was enough to catch Bumrah’s attention.

The MI pace spearhead, who is known for his calm demeanor, turned around with fire in his eyes and sharply said, “Mereko mat bol!” (Don’t say it to me!) as the Indian star lost his cool on Rahul in a crunch moment in the IPL 2025 Eliminator.
But before the situation could escalate, Tewatia quickly defused the bomb. He explained, “Tujhe nahi keh raha tha, khud ko bol raha tha. (I wasn’t saying it to you; I was saying it to myself.)” This explanation melted the tension, as Bumrah broke into a faint smile, raised his hand in acknowledgement, and returned to his mark.

Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan’s fighting half-century and his 84-run partnership with Washington Sundar gave Gujarat Titans a glimmer of hope, but Mumbai Indians' clever bowling at the end sealed a 20-run win and knocked the 2022 champions out of IPL 2025 on May 30.
With this win, Mumbai Indians will now face Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on June 1 in Qualifier 2, and the winner will take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the grand finale on June 3.

GT vs MI IPL 2025 Eliminator Highlight
Gujarat's chase got off to a nightmare start when skipper Shubman Gill was dismissed for just one run by Trent Boult in the very first over. GT was reeling at 3/1 in just four balls.
But things began to improve when Sai Sudharsan and Kusal Mendis came together. The pair played aggressively, especially targeting Boult in the third over by smashing three sixes. This brought the required run rate under control for GT against MI.
As the game moved into the final stages, Gujarat needed 45 runs from the last three overs. Jasprit Bumrah came back for a crucial over. Rahul Tewatia tried to turn the tide, moving around the crease and slamming a six. Nine runs came off the over, leaving GT needing 36 from the last two.
Boult returned and made an immediate impact, removing Rutherford for 24 runs off 15 balls laced with four boundaries. Gujarat was now 193/5 in 18.1 overs. Boult continued to bowl tight yorkers, but Shahrukh Khan ended the over with a big six, keeping the chase alive.
GT required 24 runs from the final over, but MI maintained their composure and won the match, managing only four runs in the final six balls.
