India’s explosive batter Jemimah Rodrigues made the most of the dramatic lifeline in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 clash against Pakistan in Colombo. Jemimah Rodrigues not only got the lifeline but also made Diana Baig feel disappointed with her stunning boundary on the free hit.
The incident unfolded in the 27th over of the Indian innings in Colombo. Diana Baig seemed to have claimed another big scalp when Rodrigues edged the ball behind the stumps and wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz had taken a brilliant catch.

Jemimah Rodrigues survives a run-out chance against Pakistan
Not just that, Jemimah Rodrigues survived in the 30th over as well against Pakistan. Rodrigues pushed a Nashra Sandhu delivery to extra cover and attempted a risky single. She charged down the pitch, but a miscommunication with her partner, Harleen Deol, almost saw her run out.
Harleen Deol didn’t leave her crease at all, and Rodrigues had to dive full stretch into the crease as the throw from the fielder came in fast, and she narrowly escaped the run-out. And again, Rodrigues punished an overpitched delivery from Sandhu for a boundary.
The ball came in from around the wicket, and the Indian batter stepped forward, driving it cleanly through extra cover to send it racing to the fence.

India-Pakistan ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 clash interrupted by swarm of flies in Colombo
Meanwhile, the India-Pakistan ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match is being disrupted by a swarm of flies on the field, clearly irritating the players at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Sandhu tried to chase them away with a towel, while a few fielders consulted the umpire on how to handle the situation.
A Pakistan support staff member ran onto the field with insect spray, and Captain Fatima Sana used it extensively, but the flies remained persistent. The buzzing swarm even hovered dangerously close to Rodrigues as she faced the last delivery, adding an unexpected challenge to the game and testing the players’ focus.
Heavy rains around Colombo have brought the swarms of bugs to the stadium, and they have been disturbing the players. To tackle the issue, ground staff brought out pest-control spray, forcing a 15-minute break in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 clash in Colombo. The break will be made up by shortening the innings interval, so no overs will be lost.
