Jitesh Sharma Catch To Send Back Azmatullah Omarzai
PC: X

Jitesh Sharma's catch to dismiss Azmatullah Omarzai in the ongoing first qualifier perfectly summed up Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) day. Everything that the RCB players touched in the game against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) turned to gold.

After Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl first, the script could not have unfolded in a better fashion for his team. The RCB bowlers totally justified their captain's decision by delivering a stunning show with the ball. As a result, PBKS were bowled out for just 101 runs inside 15 overs.

The table-toppers lost four wickets inside the powerplay and just could not recover after that. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals right from the start. Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer, and Josh Inglis departed inside the powerplay with just 38 runs on the board.

In the seventh over, Yash Dayal dismissed Nehal Wadhera to reduce PBKS to 50/5. After the pacers' fine show, the spinner joined the party too. Suyash Sharma picked up 3 wickets in no time to leave PBKS reeling at 78/8.

In his first over, which was the 9th over of the innings, Suyash picked up two wickets, dismissing Shashank Singh and Musheer Khan. In his second over, the leg-spinner sent back Marcus Stoinis to all but end PBKS' slim chances of posting a big total.

Harpreet Brar was the 9th wicket to fall before Jitesh Sharma pulled off a stunning catch to wrap up the PBKS innings. With only one wicket left, Omarzai decided to play a big shot on the first ball of the 15th over, but it backfired.

Josh Hazlewood bowled a length ball outside off, and Omarzai swung across the line but could only edge the ball behind the stumps. The ball was flying to Jitesh Sharma's right before the RCB wicketkeeper came up with a spectacular effort to complete a stunning one-handed catch.

Watch the catch from Jitesh Sharma:

PBKS were eventually all out for 101 runs in 14.1 overs. Stoinis (26) was the only PBKS batter to reach the 20-run mark. For RCB, Suyash and Hazlewood picked up 3 wickets each.
