England speedster Jofra Archer was the star of the Eliminator of the ongoing The Hundred 2024 played between Birmingham Phoenix and Southern Brave at the Kennington Oval in London on Saturday, August 17.

Archer delivered a stunning performance in the first-ever Super Five, leading the Southern Brave to a thrilling win over Birmingham Phoenix and securing their spot in the Hundred 2024 final to be played on Sunday, August 18, at Lord's.

Chris Jordan and Jofra Archer's heroics secure Southern Brave's spot in The Hundred 2024 Final

Archer set the tone for Southern Brave in the thrilling Eliminator at the Kennington Oval by dismissing the in-form Liam Livingstone with the very first ball of the 'Super-Five', guiding his side into the final of The Hundred 2024 against the defending champions, the Oval Invincibles, on Saturday.

In a thrilling Eliminator, Chris Jordan emerged as the hero, delivering a match-winning performance that propelled Southern Brave into the final of The Hundred 2024. Jordan made the crucial contribution of 10 runs off three balls after Archer had brilliantly restricted Birmingham Phoenix to just 7 runs in the first-ever Super Five of the 100-ball tournament.

Livingstone was in great form and looking to snatch the final spot from Southern Brave with a stunning knock of 55 off 34 balls in the main eliminator. However, the England all-rounder’s dismissal in the final moments of the innings shifted the momentum in the Brave’s favor at the Kennington Oval.

Later, Akeal Hosein successfully defended three runs from the last three balls to bring the first-ever Super Five equation in The Hundred’s history, restricting Birmingham Phoenix to 126/7. Earlier, Southern Brave had set a competitive target of 126/6 with notable contributions from James Vince (43) and Leus du Plooy (39).

Livingstone's dismissal by Archer ensured the final spot for Southern Brave

Tymal Mills of Southern Brave and Adam Milne of Birmingham Phoenix starred with the ball, taking three wickets each in the Eliminator on Saturday in London. As the Eliminator reached its climax, Jordan's explosive batting, featuring two crucial sixes off Sean Abbott, had already sealed the final berth for the Southern Brave.

The England all-rounder’s fireworks were a fitting introduction to his role while chasing 8 runs in the Super Five against the Birmingham Phoenix. Jordan inside-edged his first delivery for four, then added a two and another four to clinch victory for the Southern Brave, as they made it to The Hundred Finals for the second time.

Before this victory, Livingstone came to bat alongside Jamie Smith in the Super Five at the Kennington Oval. The England all-rounder was looking dangerous, and even he managed to hit Archer out of the ground. Well, Archer began the Super Five with a wide full toss, and Livingstone smashed hard to backward point.

It was a powerful shot, but the right-handed batter ended up finding Leus du Plooy instead and was dismissed for a golden duck. Archer conceded only 7 runs in the remaining four balls in the Super Five, with Jacob Bethell scoring five runs off three balls against the Southern Brave in the Eliminator.

Watch here how Archer stuns Livingstone:

Jofra Archer was quoted as saying by Sky Sports after the match: “Just relieved to be honest, I thought I'd given it away in that second to last over.” On his last three deliveries, the star pacer said: “You've just got to commit to it. Some days it happens for you and some days it doesn't and I'm just glad today is one of the days that it worked for me.”
