Team India opener KL Rahul was left surprised as he faced a brilliant delivery from England pacer Josh Tongue during the second innings of the ongoing Test match. Tongue bowled a peach of a delivery to send Rahul packing in the first session of Day 4 (Saturday, July 5) at Edgbaston, Birmingham
England bowlers Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse started the day with the ball. The home team used the overcast cover and the fourth day's pitch. India lost Karun Nair's wicket in the first hour of play. The right-handed batter perished after scoring 26 runs off 46 balls, leaving India at 96/2 in 21 overs.

The incident took place in the 30th over of India’s second innings. Josh Tongue angled a full delivery into the stumps, and Rahul attempted a drive. However, he failed to get his front foot far enough forward, allowing the ball to nip away just enough to beat the bat and uproot the middle stump.
Rahul had to depart to the dressing room after scoring 55 runs off 84 balls with the help of 10 boundaries. India are still in a dominant position despite losing two early wickets. The visiting team lost three wickets for 126 runs with a lead of over 300 runs.

KL Rahul Was Surprised By That Delivery - Cheteshwar Pujara
Speaking on BBC Test Match Special, Cheteshwar Pujara called the delivery that dismissed KL Rahul exceptional. He said that the ball initially angled in before straightening after pitching. Pujara also noted that Josh Tongue bowled from wide of the crease, making the delivery challenging for Rahul.
"Brilliant ball, angled in and just moved away. And KL Rahul was surprised by that delivery which was coming in and straightened after pitching. And Josh Tongue goes wide of his crease which means the ball is angled in even more," Pujara said, as quoted by BBC Test Match Special.
The dismissal of KL Rahul brought wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant to the middle. He scored 25 runs off 42 balls in the first innings. Pant had scored back-to-back centuries during the first Test match.
India Take 180-Run First Innings Lead in Edgbaston Test
Earlier on Day 3, Mohammed Siraj delivered a match-defining performance, finishing with figures of 6 for 70 in 19.3 overs. He helped India seize control of the match, despite a massive 303-run partnership between Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (184*).
Siraj had struck late on Day 2 by dismissing Zak Crawley. He also removed Joe Root and Ben Stokes early on Day 3. With the second new ball, he ran through the lower order to bowl England out for 407, helping secure India a substantial 180-run lead.
There were initial concerns about India’s pace attack due to Jasprit Bumrah being rested. However, Siraj and Akash Deep, who replaced Bumrah and took 4 for 88, troubled England batters. The duo will be crucial for the visiting team while defending the target in the fourth innings.
