Kane Williamson Catch Towhid Hridoy Wicket
PC: X

Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson took an excellent catch by running back from covers to get rid of Bangladesh's young batting sensation Towhid Hridoy cheaply at Rawalpindi. It was a difficult catch but Williamson made it look extremely simple.

During the 21st over of the match, offspinner Michael Bracewell bowled a full and flighted delivery outside off stump. Towhid Hridoy saw the opportunity to hit the ball over covers for a boundary.

However, he didn't time the ball as he was beaten in the flight. Kane Williamson, who was stationed at the covers, ran back and took a sharp catch over his shoulder to help New Zealand get the big wicket.

It was a big wicket for New Zealand as Towhid Hridoy has been in good form with the bat recently. However, it was tough knock for Hridoy as he struggled to get going in the whole innings.

Hridoy was unable to rotate the strike and was dismsised for just 7 off 24 balls. He came in to bat at No. 4 in this match as opposed to the No. 5 position against India.

Towhid Hridoy's magnificent hundred against India

Towhid Hridoy struck a magnificent hundred in Bangladesh's first match against India where he helped his team get out of a difficult position.

Hridoy formed an excellent partnership of 154 runs with Jaker Ali to help Bangladesh recover from 35-5 at one stage. Both of them took their time initially but raised the tempo as they got set on the wicket.

Jaker was dismissed for 68 off 114 balls but Hridoy stayed at one end and kept hitting the boundaries at regular intervals. The right-hander got cramps in the Dubai heat but carried on with his memorable knock.

He finally completed his century off 114 balls, leading to a standing ovation from his team and the crowd. Hridoy was dismissed for 100 off 114 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Towhid Hridoy is also seen as the next star batter from Bangladesh and possesses the ability to lead the country's batting line-up in future. He has played 34 ODIs so far and scored 977 runs at an average of 36.18 and a strike rate of 83.64 with 1 hundred and 7 fifties.

Do-or-die for Bangladesh

The match against Bangladesh is a much important one for Bangladesh as they need to win it at any cost to stay in contention for the semi-finals. Bangladesh lost their first match to India despite giving a fight to their opponents.

On the other hand, New Zealand are coming into this match on the back of a brilliant win over the hosts Pakistan in Karachi. If New Zealand win this game, they will qualify for the semi-finals alongside India, knocking both Pakistan and Bangladesh out of the tournament.
