New Zealand National Cricket Team batter Kane Williamson has praised Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Babar Azam amid the ongoing tri-series. He hailed the right-hander as a world-class player and said that it was his pleasure to watch the right-hander play.
Babar Azam, who is regarded as one of the best players in Pakistan Cricket, has been struggling to score runs. The right-hander hasn't been able to get going against spinners, which has been a cause of concern for the team.
Babar Azam has struggled to score runs of late
In the ongoing Tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand, Babar Azam didn't have a great outing in the first match. The right-hander was asked to open the innings, and he couldn't score big as he was back in the hut for just 10 runs off 23 balls in the chase of 330 against the Kiwis.
With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 around the corner, Babar Azam has faced a lot of criticism. However, he will be having a few more games to regain his form ahead of the tournament, and if that happens, it will be a massive boost for the Pakistan National Cricket Team ahead of the eight-nation tournament.
Kane Williamson, who has looked in solid form in the ongoing Tri-series, was asked if he being a part of the Fab Four would suggest something to Babar Azam, who many believe makes the Fab Five alongside Kohli, Root, Smith, and Williamson. The New Zealand National Cricket Team player, however, didn't shy away from praising the batter.
Babar's a world-class player - Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson called Babar Azam a world-class player and said the title of being in the Fab Four or Five isn't something he looks into. Speaking to reporters, he explained:
"Look, I mean, Babar's a world-class player and, you know, those sorts of titles aren't something that, you know, give a lot of attention to. And, you know, for me, it's much more about trying to do the job as best you can for the team, always looking to improve, and, you know, it was nice to be out there today and be a part of this tri-series, and we're looking forward to the tournament."
He's an absolute class act and it's always a pleasure to watch him play - Kane Williamson on Babar Azam
Kane Williamson, while sharing advice for Babar Azam, said that players always try to do different things and look to adapt to their game. He said that watching the Pakistan National Cricket Team batter play is a pleasure and added that he will soon get his rhythm.
"But I think as cricketers, when you play for periods of time, you're always navigating different things and always sort of adapting your game and Babar and all other players are no different, but he's an absolute class act and it's always a pleasure to watch him play and that rhythm's always so close with world-class players like Babar."
