Pakistan’s disastrous tour of New Zealand not ended just with a 3-0 whitewash in the ODI series but also with a drama and an ugly controversy. After the final ODI at Mount Maunganui, Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah lost his cool in a shocking moment that has now gone viral.

As the dejected Pakistan National Cricket Team walked off the field after a 43-run defeat against the Black Caps, Khushdil Shah lost his cool and got involved in a heated argument with the fans. He was seen charging toward a section of the crowd, who hurled personal taunts his way.

This bizarre incident unfolded right after the Pakistan team folded for just 221 while chasing the target of 265 runs after the third and final ODI was reduced to a 42-over match at Mount Maunganui. Before this whitewash, the Men in Green managed to win a single T20I match of the five-match series in New Zealand following their disastrous ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign.

Afghan fans misbehaved with Pakistani cricketers!!

After this a section of fans trolled and abused the Men in Green, and Khushdil couldn’t hold his emotions and ran towards the fans. Meanwhile, a journalist named Imran Siddique shared that a few Afghan men had behaved badly with the Pakistani players.

He stated, “Two Afghan men misbehaved with Pakistani cricketers in Mount Maunganui. Khushdil Shah asked them to stop, but they continued to abuse him, prompting a reaction from the player.”

The Pakistan team management has strongly condemned the abusive behavior of foreign fans during a match. It is being said that some fans used foul language toward the Pakistani players. When Khushdil asked them to stop, two Afghan fans responded with more abuse in Pashto and even tried to confront him physically.

Khushdil Shah punished after “Reckless” act during T20I series

Earlier, Khushdil Shah landed in hot water after being fined 50% of his match fees for a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first T20I against New Zealand in Christchurch. In addition to the fine, three demerit points were added to Khushdil's disciplinary record.

The ICC had confirmed that Khushdil violated Article 2.12 of its Code, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with another player.” The incident unfolded in the eighth over of Pakistan’s innings, when Khushdil, while attempting a run, collided with New Zealand bowler Zakary Foulkes in a manner the ICC described as “reckless, negligent, and avoidable.”

The all-rounder accepted his breach. The ICC’s statement made it clear that such physical contact had no place on the field and emphasized the importance of maintaining respect and professionalism, even in heated moments of play.
