West Indies left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican outfoxed Team India opening batter KL Rahul to give his side the first breakthrough in the second and final Test. Warrican dismissed the right-handed batter in India’s first innings on Day 1 (Friday, October 10) in the ongoing match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bat first. Team India retained the same lineup that secured an innings-and-140-run victory in the series opener. The West Indies made two adjustments to their side, bringing in Tevin Imlach and Anderson Phillip in place of Brandon King and Johann Layne.

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a solid start, stitching together over 50 runs in their opening partnership before Jomel Warrican provided the breakthrough for his team with a brilliant delivery.
Warrican made an impact in the attack for the first time. The left-arm spinner dismissed the Indian batter for 38 runs. Rahul advanced down the track, attempting to attack, but the ball spun sharply away, beating his bat and allowing wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach to complete a stumping.
Rahul, who had scored a century in the previous Test, looked visibly frustrated as Warrican once again got the better of him in the series. The breakthrough ended India’s promising opening stand and lifted the West Indies’ spirits early in the innings.

KL Rahul Scored 38 Runs Before Being Dismissed on Day 1
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 58 runs for the opening wicket. Rahul was stumped for 38 off 54 balls, including five fours and a six. He smashed a six off Khary Pierre before his dismissal.
The right-hander would regret not capitalizing on another solid start, especially given his outstanding form. Rahul has been in sublime touch since the England tour and continued that momentum in the first Test against the West Indies, where he notched up his 11th Test century.
The batter scored 100 off 197 balls, marking his second century at home and his sixth in the World Test Championship. He is third among Indian batters in the WTC, behind only Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma, who have scored nine centuries each.
India Beat West Indies in First Test Within Three Days
India dominated the opening Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, crushing the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs within three days, marking one of their most comprehensive wins against the visitors. Shubman Gill’s side secured crucial World Test Championship points.
After opting to bat first, the visitors were bundled out for just 162, with Mohammed Siraj taking four wickets and Jasprit Bumrah adding three. India responded strongly as KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and Ravindra Jadeja each scored centuries.
Jadeja later shone with the ball again, claiming four wickets to seal the emphatic victory. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill failed to convert promising starts, while Sai Sudharsan’s struggles at No. 3 continued, adding pressure on his place in the lineup.
