KL Rahul, on Wednesday (November 15), left the fans in splits with his antics behind the stumps during the semifinal clash between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The wicketkeeper-batsman has impressed everyone with his performance behind the stumps in the ongoing competition. Not only has he excelled as a wicketkeeper, but his inputs on DRS calls have also been equally impressive. India have rarely made a wrong DRS call and a lot of credit for that should go to the Karnataka star.
In the semifinal too, he was instrumental in India’s win. After an impressive cameo with the bat, KL Rahul took a stunning diving catch to dismiss the dangerous Devon Conway and help India get the first breakthrough. He took three more catches in the match as India thrashed the Black Caps by 70 runs to storm into the final for the first time since 2011.
KL Rahul’s hilarious act:
Talking about the incident, it took place in the 7th over when Jasprit Bumrah was bowling to New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. On the fourth ball of the over, the India pace spearhead bowled an absolute beauty to beat Williamson all ends up.
The ball completely opened up Williamson, beating the outside edge and hitting the thigh pad before reaching the wicketkeeper. The Indian fielders, including KL Rahul, went up in unison for a caught behind, but the umpire was unfazed. Skipper Rohit Sharma immediately turned towards KL Rahul for his inputs, and the wicketkeeper, who had been appealing vigorously until then, hilariously said no straight away.
