Team India's opening batter, KL Rahul, scored a brilliant century during the first innings of the ongoing Test match against the West Indies. The right-handed batter reached his 11th hundred in Test cricket and celebrated the milestone on Day 2 (Friday, October 3) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Men in Blue commenced the second day’s play at 121/2 with Rahul (53*) and Shubman Gill (18*) at the crease. Skipper Shubman Gill reached his half-century in the morning session. However, Shubman was dismissed for 50 runs off Roston Chase’s bowling. Notably, it was India’s only wicket in the session.

On the fifth ball of the 65th over in India's first innings, KL Rahul reached a hard-fought century. The batter scored his 11th Test hundred and only his second on home soil, flicking a full delivery from Roston Chase past a diving mid-wicket to complete the run.
The 33-year-old last scored a century at home nearly a decade ago, against England at Chepauk in 2016. He celebrated the long-awaited achievement by whistling and lifting his bat to acknowledge the crowd. The star batter also shared a hug with Jurel, and his celebration drew widespread attention.

KL Rahul Ends 3,211-Day Wait Between First and Second Home Test Series
KL Rahul ended a long wait of 3,211 days between his first and second Test centuries at home. Notably, this is the longest such gap for an Indian batter. The previous record was held by Ravichandran Ashwin, who waited 2,655 days between home centuries from 2013 to 2021.
Rahul has played 26 innings between his two home centuries, the third-highest among Indian players, behind Ashwin (36) and Syed Kirmani (32). The list also features legends like Chandu Borde, Vijay Manjrekar, Polly Umrigar, Kapil Dev, and Ajinkya Rahane.

Rahul has notched 10 centuries in 94 innings, placing him ahead of Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma, who have recorded 9 centuries each.
