Shreyas Iyer’s and Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s story seems very similar in the ongoing IPL 2025. While the RCB has lost three home games in a row so far in the ongoing IPL 2025, Shreyas Iyer is yet to deliver an impactful performance in the Punjab Kings’ home ground in New Chandigarh.
Presently, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are up against each other in the 37th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, in New Chandigarh. RCB won the toss and invited PBKS to bat first in the afternoon clash.
Krunal Pandya takes a stunning catch as Shreyas Iyer flops again at home
PBKS had a poor start, and all the hopes rested on Shreyas Iyer, but the captain yet again flopped in the home game. In the eighth over, Romario Shepherd bowled a full delivery on the off stump, and Iyer attempted to loft it straight down the ground.

However, the ball came off the outside half of his bat and went high up in the air towards long-on. Krunal Pandya, who was stationed at long-on, had to cover a lot of ground to his left. However, Pandya sprinted across and timed his run perfectly and took the superb catch with both hands. Virat Kohli was seen celebrating the wicket hilariously with Romario Shepherd.
Safe to say it's been Krunal Pandya's day so far ☀️

Shreyas Iyer's home woes continue in the IPL 2025
Iyer had to walk off after scoring 6 runs off 10 balls, which included one boundary, against the RCB. Notably, in four matches at the Mullanpur stadium this season, the PBKS skipper struggled to make an impact and managed scores of just 10, 9, 0, and 6.
Interestingly, when playing away games, Iyer has been a different player altogether. In four away games in the ongoing IPL 2025, the right-handed batter proved his class by smashing three half-centuries. The seasoned batter has so far amassed 263 runs in 8 games for the RCB.
Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya starred with the ball for RCB, as he conceded only 25 runs while taking two wickets in his four overs to help his team restrict PBKS to 157/6 in Mullanpur. After Punjab’s innings, Pandya praised his team’s strong comeback after a tough start in the powerplay.
Krunal Pandya reflects on RCB's performance against PBKS
The RCB spinner believes that chasing 157 is possible if his team bats smartly, especially during the powerplay. Krunal Pandya said during the innings break, as quoted by Cricbuzz, “Pretty good effort. The way they started in power play, they put us under pressure.”
Pandya added, “From that position to restrict them to 157 was a great effort. What I realized when the fast bowlers bowled was that pace-on deliveries were much easier to face. I realized on this wicket, the slower you bowl, the more difficult it is for batters. We have to bat really well. Power play becomes crucial. If we bat to our potential, we can chase this down.”
Notably, the left-arm spinner has been in great form with the ball in the ongoing IPL 2025, where he has so far taken 10 wickets in 8 games for the RCB. However, with the bat, he could contribute only 24 runs, excluding his innings against the PBKS in Mullanpur on Sunday.
