New Zealand right-arm seamer Kyle Jamieson has dished out a body blow to the Indian team by getting Virat Kohli’s wicket early on day six of the ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton. On a sunny day, India would have hoped for a significant inning from the Indian captain. However, Kyle Jamieson ended his stay in only the fifth over of the day.
The dismissal occurred in the 36th over of the game as Virat Kohli could not counter the extra bounce generated by Kyle Jamieson. It went away from his body and the late movement meant that the right-handed batsman ended up nicking to the keeper. BJ Watling, playing his final Test, took an easy catch behind the stumps and the Kiwis were ecstatic to see the back of Kohli for 14.
India ended the fifth day at 64-2, with new-ball bowler Tim Southee getting Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill after a promising opening stand. Before that, Mohammed Shami took four wickets to bundle out the Black Caps for 249, but they gained a handy 32-run lead. As things stand, the Indian team remains in trouble and the middle-order needs to show as much resistance as possible to prevent New Zealand from running away with the match.
