Virat Kohli repeatedly denied the requests to recreate his iconic 2013 ICC Champions Trophy celebration after the India National Cricket Team lifted the trophy for the record third time at the packed Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (March 9).
Twelve years ago, a young Virat Kohli gave fans an unforgettable moment when he showed off his dance moves by grooving to Gangnam Style and also doing pushups in front of his teammates during India's Champions Trophy celebration in England back in 2013.

It was a joyous occasion as the MS Dhoni-led India National Cricket Team clinched the trophy with a thrilling five-run win over England. And now, after the Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by four wickets to lift the Champions Trophy, many wanted Kohli to recreate that magic in Dubai.
Even the Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana recreated Kohli's iconic 'Gangnam Style' move alongside Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja after the title triumph in Dubai. But when the Star Sports presenter Jatin Sapru requested the former Indian skipper to do his iconic celebration, the right-hander denied it by folding his hands and shaking hands.
Well, the requests for the same didn’t stop there, as Harshit Rana requested Kohli to join him to recreate his iconic 'Gangnam Style' celebration when the entire team, including the coaching staff and BCCI official, was posing for the trophy; Virat yet again turned down the request.

At first, the former India captain didn’t pay attention to Rana and Arshdeep Singh and then politely refused by folding his hands and holding his ears. However, Kohli still enjoyed watching the young fast bowlers celebrate the moment. However, this time Shreyas Iyer showed off his dance skills, as the Indian cricketers celebrated with the trophy.

It is a blessing: Virat Kohli cherishes fourth ICC trophy
Meanwhile, Kohli opened up about his emotions after winning his fourth ICC title and shared whether he still feels the same way that he felt after winning his first trophy. Notably, he has won the 2011 ODI World Cup, the 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy, and the 2024 T20 World Cup in his illustrious career so far. However, Virat couldn’t win an ICC trophy as India captain.
Kohli said on Star Sports, “Of course that's why you play this game. You play for such big days, for such big tournaments. When you do it four times, then it is a blessing. I consider myself lucky to have played for this long and to have won four times. It's been amazing.”
He signed off by saying, “I am just so happy we were able to play as a unit and really enjoy ourselves. We have had such an amazing time as a team. It has been an amazing tournament for us."
