BGT 2024-25 drama begins with Nathan Lyon-Rishabh Pant’s stump mic moment
As expected, the first Test at the Optus Stadium was no exception. The historic Australian sledging culture was alive and kicking, with Nathan Lyon engaging in some cheeky chatter with India’s fearless wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant. It didn’t take long for Lyon to find his target, and as the ball sailed through the air, his words directed right at Pant.
Lyon was at his best, trying to needle Pant and get under his skin by asking the Indian player, "Where are we going in the auction?” Well, Pant, who is no stranger to the art of wordplay, as the Indian keeper avoided dragging it far by saying, “He’s no idea,” as he was focusing on taking his team to a good total.
Well, now a video is going viral on the internet where Rishabh Pant was seen pumping up his Indian teammates on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Meanwhile, Pant has made history by breaking a long-standing 47-year-old record in Australia in the ongoing Perth Test. With a brilliant knock of 37 runs on Day 1, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter etched his name in the record books.
Pant surpassed Alan Knott's record of 643 runs for England, set in 1977, to become the highest run-scorer by a visiting wicketkeeper in Australian Test history. Knott had held the record for almost five decades, achieving it across 22 innings at an average of 33.84, with four fifties and a century to his name.
But Pant shattered the English legend’s record in just 13 innings and 8 Tests. He has already 661 runs at a phenomenal average of 60.09 to his name in Australia. He also becomes the first ever wicketkeeper to score 2000 runs in WTC.
