The South Africa National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Marco Jansen provided an exceptional start to his team in the second T20I of the four-match series at St George's Park in Gqeberha.
Marco Jansen bagged the wicket of the centurion of the previous match, Sanju Samson, in the opening over of the first innings on Sunday, November 10.
Sanju Samson bags his 5th duck in T20I cricket
The India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has been in terrific form in T20I cricket since getting the opportunity to open.
Samson was promised by the skipper Suryakumar Yadav during the Duleep Trophy that he would be getting seven consecutive matches on the trot in T20I cricket as an opener, irrespective of how many runs he scores.
Sanju Samson made sure to repay the faith of his skipper by scoring 29 and 19 runs in his first two outings before smashing an astonishing ton in the third match against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.
As India came to South Africa for the T20Is, Sanju Samson continued his form and blasted an epic century in Durban. He smashed a sensational 107 runs and became the first Indian cricketer to hit consecutive T20I tons.
However, Sanju Samson failed to score in the second T20I against the Proteas and bagged a 3-ball duck.
On the third ball of the first over, Marco Jansen bowled a good length delivery and Samson tried to make room, exposing his stumps in the process. He played down the wrong line, got beaten, and saw his leg stump getting uprooted.
It was the 5th duck for Sanju Samson in T20I cricket. He equaled KL Rahul's unwanted record for 5 ducks in T20Is and is only behind Virat Kohli (7) and Rohit Sharma (12) in the list.

South Africa bowlers struggled against India in the first T20I
South Africa's bowling unit faced an uphill battle against India in the first T20I at Kingsmead in Durban. The left-arm pacer Marco Jansen was one of the standout performers, with the figures of 4-0-24-1. He held his own, bagging the wicket of Axar Patel with a good slower ball.
Overall, pacer Gerald Coetzee was the most successful bowler for the Proteas in the innings, picking up three crucial wickets. His 4-0-37-3 spell included early breakthroughs, dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya. Coetzee’s aggressive lines and lengths kept Indian batters on alert, though he was a bit expensive, conceding runs at 9.25.
On the spin-bowling front, Keshav Maharaj bowled well and took the wicket of Tilak Varma to end his cameo. The other bowlers could not replicate Maharaj's control and ended up leaking runs. Aiden Markram chipped in with one over, conceding 10 runs without a breakthrough.
Also, Nqabayomzi Peter and Patrick Kruger struggled, conceding 35 runs each in their three and two-over spells, respectively. Kruger’s lone wicket came when he dismissed Suryakumar Yadav, but his economy rate soared to 17.50 while Nqabayomzi dismissed India's centurion Sanju Samson.
Andile Simelane, meanwhile, endured a tough outing, with figures of 2-0-27-0, as India capitalized on errant deliveries and registered a huge total of 202/8.
