Punjab Kings all-rounder Marcus Stoinis played a decent hand with the bat in the game against Gujarat Titans. The fifth game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (25th March).
Punjab Kings, who were asked to bat first, had a staggering outing as they posted a massive total of over 240 runs on the board. The Shreyas Iyer-led side came up with a collective effort with the bat, with the majority of the batters coming up with a brilliant effort.
One of the vital efforts came from the bat of Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. The right-hander walked out to bat at six and provided great support to skipper Shreyas Iyer, who was going great guns at the other end.
Marcus Stoinis came up with some brilliant shots and entertained the crowd. The all-rounder hit two sixes in his innings and one of them went on to hit the female security officer, who was walking across the boundary ropes in the stadium and injured her.
It was during the second ball of the 15th over when Mohammed Siraj bowled a length delivery, and Marcus Stoinis was quick to read the length of the ball. The Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder played the pull flat over deep mid-wicket and hit a security official on her leg.

Marcus Stoinis ended up playing a decent hand of 20 runs off 15 balls. The Punjab Kings batter batted with a strike rate of over 133 and also slammed 1 fours and 2 sixes. The all-rounder's innings helped Punjab go past 200 runs on the board with ease.
But the real hero of the innings for Punjab Kings was skipper Shreyas Iyer. The right-hander, who batted at number three, came out all guns blazing and played a magical innings. He made sure that he started the new season on high and put his team in a dominating position.

Shreyas Iyer ended with a score of unbeaten 97 off 42 balls. He batted with a strike rate of 230 and slammed 5 fours and 9 sixes in his innings. Shashank Singh, in the end, supported him well as he played a cameo of 44 runs off 16 balls, adding 81 runs with the captain.
Thanks to his brilliant innings with the bat, Punjab Kings posted a massive total of 243 runs on the board in their opening encounter of IPL 2025. They then came up with a decent effort with the ball and went on to win the game by 11 runs to start the season on high.
