Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis unintentionally left fans and the umpire in splits during the first T20I of the ongoing three-match series against New Zealand. The veteran cricketer mistakenly removed both his jerseys and handed them to the umpire before bowling, and the video went viral on social media.

Australia made the most of winning the toss at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Wednesday, October 1. The visitors struck early as fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Ben Dwarshuis combined to dismantle New Zealand’s top order, leaving the hosts struggling at 6 for 3 within just two overs of the opening match.

Most players, including Marcus Stoinis, were wearing an extra layer of clothing in the chilly, windy conditions. The all-rounder stopped by the umpire to hand over his full-sleeved jersey. However, Stoinis removed both his jerseys, leaving himself in just his inners as he walked towards his run-up.

The all-rounder Marcus Stoinis immediately turned back with a sheepish grin, while the umpire, players, and fans burst into laughter. The umpire handed the jersey back, and Marcus Stoinis quickly put it on before resuming his over. Fans enjoyed the lighter side of the game on social media.

Tim Robinson’s Maiden Century Guides New Zealand to 182 Against Australia

Australia were set a 182-run chase in the T20I opener at Mount Maunganui. Tim Robinson smashed his maiden international century to rescue New Zealand from early trouble.

The Black Caps had collapsed to 6/3 inside two overs. However, Robinson and Daryl Mitchell added a crucial 92-run stand for the fourth wicket. Mitchell scored 34 from 23 deliveries, including three boundaries and one six.

Robinson reached the three-figure mark in 65 deliveries during the final over. He recorded his career-best score of an unbeaten 106 off 66 balls, including six fours and five sixes.

No other Kiwi batter crossed 34, but the hosts posted a total of 6/181. Australia’s fielding woes added to the damage, as Travis Head missed two chances, Tim David spilled another in the deep, and Alex Carey fluffed a stumping.

Australia Cruise To Easy T20I Win Over New Zealand

Australia’s batting firepower proved too much for New Zealand as the visitors chased down 182 with ease, wrapping up the game inside 17 overs. Captain Mitchell Marsh stole the show, smashing 85 off just 43 balls, including nine fours and five massive sixes.

Travis Head and Marsh added 67 runs in 5.3 overs, punishing the Kiwi pacers. Matt Henry provided a breakthrough by dismissing Head for 31. The momentum didn’t slow down, with Matt Short adding 29 in his comeback knock before being undone by Kyle Jamieson’s slower delivery.

Marsh reached his fifty in only 23 balls, but he missed out on a century after Henry dismissed him in the 15th over. Tim David ensured there were no late stumbles, sealing the victory with more than three overs left.
