Mark Stoneman, captain of Middlesex, stole the show with his special act during the match against Somerset in the ongoing England Domestic One-Day Cup 2024. Mark Stoneman showed sportsmanship by placing the dislodged stumps back in the ground after his dismissal during the recent one-day match.

Mark Stoneman was dismissed by Riley Meredith during the eighth over of Middlesex’s innings. Meredith came around the wicket and bowled the inswinging delivery to the left-handed batter. The delivery beat Stoneman's inside edge and crashed into the wickets, sending the off stump cartwheeling off the soil.

The Somerset players started celebrating after the wicket. However, Stoneman calmly picked up the dislodged stump and placed it back into the ground before leaving the field. Usually, on-field umpires put the stumps back into the ground. Stoneman received appreciation from enthusiastic fans on social media.

“Incredible from Mark Stoneman. He's clean bowled by Riley Meredith - but before he walks off, he pops his off-stump back in the ground for the umpires,” wrote the caption.

Middlesex were bowled out for just 135 runs in 39.3 overs. Riley Meredith took four wickets for 27 runs in his eight overs. Luke Hollman was the top scorer with an unbeaten 38 runs off 71 balls. Martin Anderson (34 off 49) and Stoneman (23 off 19) failed to convert their starts and help the team reach a good score.
