The Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne landed in the UK more than 20 days ago and started his preparation for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC final) against South Africa.

Labuschagne was included in the Glamorgan squad for the first two matches of the County Championship before the WTC final Test match. His return to the county didn’t go well as he departed for a duck.

Marnus Labuschagne 7-ball duck

Labuschagne survived just nine minutes on the pitch on his return to the Glamorgan team. He has scored 10 centuries for Glamorgan, but Northamptonshire pacer, Harry Conway bowled an outswinger, and Labuschagne was caught in the third slip.

After taking his wicket, Conway's unique celebration boosted the crowd, and Glamorgan finished the day with 82-3.

Marnus Labuschagne will play a crucial role for the Aussies in the WTC final against the Proteas. He will bat at the no. 4 position and with seeing Proteas' pace attack in English conditions, it will be difficult for batters to play.

He also fields in the important parts of the ground and can be useful in the slips, also for his team. The WTC 2025 final will be played from June 11 at the Lord's.

Marnus Labuschagne replaces Colin Ingram

Labuschagne replaces South African batter Colin Ingram, who is in superb form in the tournament. Ingram scored 451 in five Test matches with four half-centuries and a century at an average of 56.37.

"It'll be good to have him involved, he knows the players, he brings energy and quality so it's great to have him back into the squad," said Glamorgan coach Richard Dawson on Labuschagne.

Glamorgan are in sixth place in the points table, and they won their first match of the season against Kent at Canterbury last week.

Australian players in County cricket

Labuschagne's teammate in the WTC 2025 final, Beau Webster, also joined Warwickshire for the preparation ahead of the big final. Webster took two wickets for 42 runs in his 11 overs against Hampshire at Edgbaston.

Nathan McAndrew, who is not in the Australian squad, played his first match of the season for Sussex. He took one wicket against Somerset.

In the match between Sussex and Somerset, Michael Vaughan's son Archie Vaughan scored 70 runs in 11 balls.

Peter Handscomb is captaining Leicestershire, and his team bowled out Middlesex for just 232 runs.

Kurtis Patterson, another Australian batter, is enjoying his time in England as he is playing for Surrey against Yorkshire.
