A bizarre rather terrible umpiring was on display in the COL CK Nayudu Trophy. The match between Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has come under the spotlight after what unfolded on Day 1 of the game.
Karnataka won the toss and opted to bat first. They had a decent with the bat in the first innings of the COL CK Nayudu Trophy game against Uttar Pradesh. Openers in Macneil HN and Prakar Chaturvedi batted well at the top and made sure that they take team off to a good start.
The duo batted well against the new ball and didn’t put a foot wrong. They added 68 runs for the opening partnership before the stand was broken with a controversial dismissal. Prakar Chaturvedi was termed out even though the ball wasn’t gathered properly by the UP’s keeper.
Pacer Kunal Yadav bowled a short of a length delivery that was going down the leg side. Prakar Chaturvedi moved to his right and tried to play the shot on the back. The ball went close to his gloves and the keeper gobbled it but then fell on the ground.
As keeper Aaradhya Yadav was on the ground, the ball slipped out of his hands and touched the ground. He then immediately grabbed the ball as the entire team appealed for caught behind as they believed Prakar Chaturvedi hit the ball.
What caught the attention of many was even before the catch was complete, the umpire termed the batter out. The official ignored that the ball touched the ground and raised his finger, in what was a shocking display of umpiring.

Disgraceful. Show.@JayShah @BCCIdomestic @BCCI Kindly look at this incident and take action against the Umpire and the keeper who fails to show sportsmanship.
This is the proof that current young players do not have honestly and will not succeed at the biggest stage.
