New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry produced a superb effort on the boundary line to take an outstanding catch during the third ODI between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Eden Park, Auckland. The ball was going for a six but Henry maintained his balance to produce a wicket out of nowhere.

It was a tossed-up ball outside off stump from the offspinner Michael Bracewell. The batter Charith Asalanka looked to smash the ball towards a shortish boundary at long-off. However, he didn't connect well which didn't give him the required elevation.

Matt Henry ran to his right from long-off and caught the ball cleanly just inside the boundary line. He tossed the ball in the air as soon as he realized that he was going over the boundary ropes. The fast bowler finally completed the self-relay catch after stepping onto the field again.

Watch: Matt Henry produces a super-athletic effort at the boundary

It was a sharp catch from Matt Henry just inside the boundary line as New Zealand plucked out a big wicket at an important phase in the game. Henry judged the catch to perfection and ensured to stay just inside the boundary ropes. He had earlier dropped a catch but didn't make a mistake this time.

Charith Asalanka dismissed cheaply

It resulted in a big wicket as Sri Lanka's captain Charith Asalanka was dismissed for a five-ball duck. The skipper looked to take the attack to the opposition on a good batting surface after a great start. However, it wasn't his day and he had to go back to the pavilion.

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first on a good batting surface. They got a good start before Pathum Nissanka got retired hurt. Avishka Fernando was soon dismissed afterwards but Kusal Mendis and Kamindu Mendis steadied the innings.

Both batters formed a solid partnership of 87 runs to take Sri Lanka to a comfortable position. While Kusal was more aggressive and looked to take on the bowlers, Kamindu looked to take his time before cashing in on the opportunity.

Sri Lanka post a competitive total

Both the batters, along with the captain Charith Asalanka were dismissed in quick succession as the hosts found their way in. Pathum Nissanka came back but was clearly not fit enough to run. However, he produced some lusty blows before NZ skipper Mitchell Santner smartly picked up his wicket.

Janith Liyanage scored a vital 53 off 52 balls down the order to take Sri Lanka to a competitive 290-8 in 50 overs. Nissanka top-scored for Sri Lanka with 66 off 42 balls while Kusal Mendis scored a 48-ball-54.

Kamindu Mendis also scored a crucial 46 off 71 balls. Matt Henry also shone with the ball and was New Zealand's most successful bowler. He picked up a four-wicket haul as he finished with 4-55 in 10 overs.
