Team India have handed the debut to two players for the first India vs Bangladesh T20I, scheduled to be played on Sunday (October 6) at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Gwalior.

Fast-bowler Mayank Yadav and allrounder Nitish Reddy have been given the opportunities to play their first-ever international game. Mayan Yadav, who set the IPL ablaze this year, earned his maiden call-up from the Indian team for the three-match series against Bangladesh.

He left one and all impressed with his ability to constantly bowl 150kph-plus deliveries. During the competition, Mayank Yadav also touched the 155kph mark. He picked up the Player of the Match awards in his first two games before an abdominal injury ended his campaign in IPL 2024.

And even though Mayank Yadav has not played any competitive game since then, the selectors decided to pick him in the team for the Bangladesh series.

On the other hand, Nitish Reddy earned his maiden call-up from the Indian team for the tour of Zimbabwe in July this year. However, the all-rounder could not play any game during the series. He recently played in the Duleep Trophy and although he could not make a big impact, he would be looking to hit the ground running in international cricket.

Mayank Yadav, and Nitish Reddy earn debut cap:

Just before the toss for the first India vs Bangladesh T20I, Mayank Yadav and Nitish Reddy received their debut India caps from two former players. While Murali Kartik handed the debut cap to Mayank, Reddy received it from Parthiv Patel.

Meanwhile, India have won the toss and opted to field first in the series opener. Speaking after winning the toss, captain Suryakumar said:

"We'll look to bowl first. Looks humid, don't think the pitch will change much. There's a lot of talent involved in the group. Looks beautiful, lovely crowd, excited to play here. Tilak, Ravi Bishnoi, Rana and Jitesh miss out."

In their last T20I assignment, India clean swept the three-match series in Sri Lanka and will be looking to extend their winning start under new captain Suryakumar. Earlier, Team India thrashed Bangladesh in the two-match Test series and will be looking to make the most of the momentum.
