Mohammad Amir and Saim Ayub had a heated on-field exchange in Match 2 of the Pakistan Super League 2025 between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. The left-arm pacer dismissed opener Babar Azam for a duck within just two balls, and his celebration quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter).

Babar Azam was under scrutiny during the match between Peshawar and Quetta on Saturday, April 12. He was recently dropped from Pakistan’s T20I squad. However, he had a poor outing in the match, as he was dismissed without scoring in his first innings since being dropped from the national team.

Mohammad Amir and Saim Ayub Involved in On-Field Verbal Clash

As Peshawar Zalmi began their run chase, Mohammad Amir sledged Saim Ayub, who was at the non-striker’s end. The left-handed batter had taken a single on the second ball of the innings. Mohammad Amir exchanged words with Ayub, and the microphones didn’t capture the conversation, but both players were unhappy.

Ayub made his return to competitive cricket after recovering from an ankle injury that had sidelined him since January. The young opener remained calm and didn’t react to Amir’s remarks. Amir went on to dismiss Babar Azam on the final ball of the over and troubled the batters throughout the spell.

Azam registered an unwanted milestone during the clash. He joined former teammate Kamran Akmal on the list for most ducks in PSL history. Imad Wasim (12) is at the top of the list for most ducks in PSL history, followed by Wahab Riaz with 10.
