The top-order batting unit collapsed, and the lower-order batters were forced to step up to take Pakistan National Cricket Team to a respectable score.

The highest run-scorer for the Men In Green in the first innings of the match was the wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris, who scored 31 runs off 23 balls, with 2 fours and 1 six, as Pakistan posted 135/8 on the board.

The tally of runs registered by Pakistan could have been 136 had Mohammad Haris not made a comical blunder on the last ball of the 10th over.

Notably, skipper Salman Agha flicked a delivery from Mahedi Hasan towards long on's right, and a misfield helped the batters take two.

However, the umpires checked for the short run, and it was found out that Mohammad Haris, who was busy saying no to the second initially, had forgotten that the bat needs to be grounded behind the crease.

He did not ground it either when eventually going for the second, and Pakistan just got a single due to poor awareness, and a comical blunder from Mohammad Haris..

Before the tournament, we had just decided we’d go out and play for the championship - Jaker Ali

Speaking at the toss, the Bangladesh stand-in skipper Jaker Ali said that they had decided before the start of the tournament that they would be playing to win the championship. He said:

"We would like to bowl first, looks a pretty dry wicket. We have been doing well while bowling first, so we are going with that strategy. As a bowling unit we have been doing well. We have to bat really well in this match. Before the tournament, we had just decided we’d go out and play for the championship, and we’ll carry the same mindset in this match. We have three changes. Saifuddin, Nasum and Tamim are not playing. Nurul, Taskin and Mahedi are in."

Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Salman Agha said that the victory over Sri Lanka gave them a big confidence boost. He said:

"We wanted to bat first, so it's okay. Looks a good pitch. Scoreboard pressure is the key. We have defended well after scoring 150-plus. Beating SL was always great. We want to play good cricket and execute our plans. It's always important playing any final. We want to focus on this game, want to win this game. We want to play good cricket. We are playing with the same side."
